Approaches adapted to your needs
Explore needs that may guide a session and see what it can involve in practical terms. These examples do not replace assessment, consent or medical advice when it is required.
Back and lower back
A session can be adapted to the tension or discomfort you report in your back and lower back. The assessment helps determine which areas and techniques are appropriate.
Available lengths
60- or 90-minute options
Techniques
Swedish massage, myofascial work and other techniques based on the assessment
Positioning
Prone then side-lying, with support cushions
After the session
General guidance or movements discussed when appropriate
Neck and shoulders
A session can be adapted to the tension or discomfort you report in your neck, shoulders or between your shoulder blades. The jaw or upper chest may also be addressed when supported by the assessment and with your consent.
Prone and supine, face cradle adjusted to your neck
After the session
General positioning guidance, when relevant
Prenatal massage
Every pregnancy is different. The RMT reviews relevant health information and adapts positioning and pressure based on the assessment, your comfort and your consent. Depending on your circumstances, she may ask you to consult your health-care provider.
Available lengths
60 minutes
Techniques
Adapted Swedish massage, gentle pressure and positioning support
Positioning
Side-lying, pregnancy cushions provided
After the session
Relevant health considerations are reviewed during assessment and consent
Sports recovery
Before or after an activity, the pace and pressure can be adapted to your goals, the timing of the session, the assessment and your consent.
Available lengths
60- or 90-minute options
Techniques
Myofascial, joint range, assisted stretching
Positioning
Varies with the muscle groups targeted
After the session
The timing of the session in relation to the activity is discussed during the assessment
Relaxation and rest
A slow, sustained pace may suit a session focused on calm and rest. At home, you do not have to drive after the appointment.
Available lengths
60- or 90-minute options
Techniques
Slow Swedish massage and pressure adapted to your preferences
Positioning
Prone then supine, light and noise kept to a minimum
After the session
No drive home — you stay where you are
Mobility and range of motion
A session may focus on mobility or comfort around a healed scar, based on the assessment. Your response to treatment is reassessed at each appointment.
Available lengths
60- or 90-minute options
Techniques
Joint mobilisation, scar work, active stretching
Positioning
Depends on the joint being worked
After the session
Findings are reassessed if you choose another appointment
